Richard Curtis to write Doctor Who episode

0707-Richard-CurtisI just read on The Guardian that the writer of 98% of Britain’s romantic comedies has signed on to write an episode of the upcoming series of Doctor Who. Curtis, best known for Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Blackadder and The Vicar of Dibley said “It’s tremendously good fun and a treat for my children. These days the things you can watch together as a family are much fewer so when you get something like Doctor Who or The X Factor it is such a pleasure to sit down as a family.”

Curtis will of course be writing for the new cast of Doctor Who (Matt Smith and Karen Gillan) following the departure of David Tennant. While Curtis didn’t go into great detail on his script idea, he did say it would involve a “historical figure” battling a monster.

Fingers crossed for Baldrick vs. the Cybermen.
