Change is afoot in the world of Doctor Who. Not only is a new Doctor due soon, with Matt Smith replacing David Tennant, but there have also been rumours that the Tardis will see something of a re-design. On top of all that, new showrunner Steven Moffat has revealed a new logo for the show.
So it’s out with this…

And in with this…

Revealing the image, Moffat said:
“A new logo. The eleventh logo for the eleventh Doctor – those grand old words, Doctor Who, suddenly looking newer than ever. And look at that, something really new – an insignia! DW in TARDIS form! Simple and beautiful, and most important of all, a completely irresistible doodle. I apologise to school notebooks everywhere, because in 2010 that’s what they’re going to be wearing.”
Personally I quite like it, though it really seems they’re trying to distinguish Moffat’s new regime from the old Davies one quite strongly. It remains to be seen whether the content of the show will change as much, or whether it’s all style and no substance…

They can change the inside of the TARDIS all they want — I’d appreciate seeing more of it given that it’s meant to be huge (infinitely big?) inside. But they’d better not change one single thing about the outside. That’s just sacrosanct.
As far as I’m aware the re-design is minor on the exterior; it’s still a police box but just with some very slight changes to the panelling.
As for the interior, the rumours I’ve been hearing say that the main control room has been slightly re-designed and that we’re going to be seeing additional rooms within the Tardis this series.
I like it well enough I suppose, it had to change for the new Dr and is suitably different from the previous one, I also hope we get to see other areas with the Tardis, then maybe we will have more of a sense of how big it is supposed to be.
