It’s reassuring to hear Peters’ remark that “For me, I can only watch spaceships for a certain amount of time. If the characters are driving the show, it’s gonna be great. You have to invest in them and the technology is the icing on the cake.” Hopefully this is a good sign that remaking “V” isn’t just an excuse to show off 21st-century CGI but will instead delve a little deeper.

V premieres on November 3rd 2009.

This could be good or bad news, depending on how you look at it. ABC’s remake of the 1980’s sci-fi series V has closed down production for a two week period in order to “take advantage of our November premiere to maximize creative opportunities and deliver the audience the best show possible,” a Warners spokesperson said.

Reading between the lines, it seems that something about the show has been deemed crappy by the network, and they’re trying to fix that before the show launches. The most likely culprit is the scripting.

Depending on whether you’re a glass half full or a glass half empty type, you can see this positively or negatively. The optimist in me says this is a good thing; after all, better scripts make for a better show. The pessimist in me worries that what the network consider better scripts may be poorer than what the writers consider great scripts.

Ultimately all we can do is sit back and await the results, but I’m trying to stay optimistic. The pilot has been pretty well-received by those who’ve seen it, and it would be nice to have another great sci-fi show on TV.
