Amy Sherman-Palladino, who created, wrote and executive produced the seven-season mother-daughter network show Gilmore Girls is taking her first steps into cable with a new project for HBO. The as-yet-untitled dramedy will be written by Sherman-Palladino and focus on three adult sisters, all writers, living in the same apartment block with their domineering mother who lavishes [...] Chris Lilley, who created Australian comedy series Summer Heights High, has struck a deal with HBO for the US cable channel to co-produce his new series Angry Boys. As with Summer Heights High, Lilley will play numerous characters, with the focus of Angry Boys apparently “exploring male life in the 21st century”. For anyone who hasn’t [...] HBO just can’t stop greenlighting new shows lately, can they? There are at least 9 new programmes lined up for HBO in 2010 and “Enlightened” is just the latest pilot, to be handled by writer-director Mike White. The series is about a woman who goes through some sort of spiritual awakening and “becomes determined to live [...] HBO have ordered 11 episodes of Boardwalk Empire, the Martin Scorsese-directed drama that promises “a look at the history of Atlantic City’s boardwalk from its origins as a quiet seaside resort to the casino empire it is today.” The series is based on the book “Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic [...] Lena Headey, most recently TV’s answer to Linda Hamilton, is joining the ever-expanding cast of “Game of Thrones”, the new HBO series based on the novels of George R.R. Martin. Headey’s character Cersei is the twin sister of Jaime Lannister (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). From what I’ve read about the role, it should apparently be [...] I’d heard about this upcoming series a while ago and promptly forgot all about it, until this promo surfaced. The HBO series stars Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson, Zach Galifianakis and Heather Burns so there are certainly no complaints to be made against the cast, whilst the plot sounds, um… slightly generic, to be honest. BUT, [...] Coster-Waldau, who recently starred in the sadly-failed TV pilot Virtuality has been cast in HBO’s Game of Thrones, a series based on the George RR Martin series of fantasy novels. I have to confess to not being familiar with the novels at all, so if any of you readers have enjoyed them, let me know! [...] Variety is reporting that Frank Spotnitz, formerly a writer and producer on The X-Files, is working with HBO to develop a series based on the 1971 Robert Silverberg novel “The World Inside”.
